Local Treasures – Gulf Beaches Historic Museum

Are you ready for a quaint little local outing to check out our community? Here is a nice stop. The Gulf Beaches Historical Museum.

Gulf Beaches Historical Museum

This is a hidden treasure in Pass-A-Grille that anyone who is living or visiting St. Pete Beach should visit. The volunteer-run museum along 10th Avenue presents the history of the Gulf Beaches for all ages.

The Gulf Beaches Historical Museum is located on the grounds of the first church of the local barrier islands from 1917. The original church property was saved by Joan Haley who had a passion for historic preservation. And in 1989, Mrs. Haley left the church property to Pinellas County to be used as an island museum. The Gulf Beaches Historical Museum opened to the public in March 1993 and since then, the museum has grown to become a real island treasure. The permanent collection includes a timeline display from 1500 to the present, photographs, maps, postcards, local school yearbooks, artifacts from island churches, a WWII exhibit, and Haley’s personal memorabilia. The museum also has a gift shop.
